On 20 May 2026, The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London welcomed a senior delegation from the East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) for discussions on the continuing development of the partnership between the two institutions.

The delegation was led by Professor Hongzhou Wang, Chairman of the University Affairs Committee, and included senior representatives from ECUPL’s President’s Office, Academy for China’s Rule of Law, School of Economic Law and International Exchange Center.

The visitors were welcomed by Professor Dan Hunter, Executive Dean of The Dickson Poon School of Law, together with Professor James Lee, Dr Lerong Lu, Dr Leopoldo Parada and Caitlin English.

The meeting reviewed the progress of the existing 3+1 programme, through which ECUPL LLB learners may complete the final year of their undergraduate legal studies at King’s. Since the partnership was established in 2020, the programme has become an important pathway supporting student mobility and strengthening academic links between the two law schools.

Colleagues also discussed opportunities to broaden the relationship, including postgraduate education, further mobility opportunities and closer research and staff exchange.

Dr Lerong Lu, Reader in Law and Director of Postgraduate Studies at King’s, participated in the meeting. He has supported the development of academic links between King’s and one of China’s leading specialist law universities.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of King’s and ECUPL to international legal education and long-term academic collaboration.
