The Banking Law Journal (2024) by LexisNexis

Dr Lu has recently published a three-part paper entitled “Fintech Corporations: Defining the Practice and Regulation of Innovative Financial Enterprises” in Vol. 141 of the Banking Law Journal or BLJ (2024) over three consecutive issues. The BLJ is a leading US-based journal in the fields of banking and finance law. This paper establishes the study of Fintech as a distinctive academic discipline for banking law scholars, students, and practitioners worldwide.

The first part of the paper (published in BLJ, Vol. 141, Issue 5, May 2024, pp. 195-213) examines the nature and meaning of Fintech and explores how AI, blockchain, cloud computing, big data, and e-commerce have been applied to or integrated with financial institutions and markets. The second part (published in BLJ, Vol. 141, Issue 6, June 2024, pp. 259-269) discusses the main corporate structures and business models of Fintech, and outlines the common characteristics of Fintech businesses. The third part (published in BLJ, Vol. 141, Issue 7, July-August 2024, pp. 309-333) proposes a new regulatory framework for Fintech, consisting of five pillars for sound and effective governance: corporate finance and securities regulation, corporate governance and ESG, regulatory sandboxes, regulatory technology (RegTech), and a balanced regulatory strategy.

The three-part paper is available on HeinOnline.
